How to turn phone scans and photos into one tidy PDF
Expenses, tenancy forms, school letters, insurance claims: people increasingly ask for “a PDF”, not a pile of photos. Your phone and a browser are all you need.
Want to skip ahead? Open JPG to PDF. It's free and your files never leave your device.
Capture good pages
- Use your phone’s built-in scanner if it has one. On iPhone, the Notes app has Scan Documents; on Android, Google Drive has a Scan option. They straighten pages and boost contrast automatically.
- Otherwise take photos straight-on, in good light, with the page filling the frame and no shadow from your phone.
- Put the paper on a dark, plain surface so the edges stand out.
Combine them into one PDF
- Open JPG to PDF on 10MinuteConvert and add your page photos. HEIC, PNG and screenshots work too.
- Use the arrows next to each file to put the pages in order.
- Choose A4 (or US Letter) so pages print at a normal size, and a small margin.
- Press Convert and save the PDF.
Fix the order or orientation afterwards
If a page is upside down or in the wrong place, open Reorder & rotate pages, add the PDF and move, rotate or remove pages using the thumbnails. Rotation is lossless, so quality doesn’t change.
Already have several PDFs? Merge PDF joins them in the order you choose.
Keep it small enough to send
Phone photos are large, so a 10-page PDF can easily reach 30 MB or more. If it needs to go by email, run it through the PDF size fixer with your email provider’s limit, or compress the photos before combining them.
The short version
Scan straight and well-lit, order the pages before converting, and size the PDF for where it’s going.
